THAMES VALLEY WINS ROLLER MILLS SHIELD AUCKLAND BEATEN IN FINAL (From Our Own Correspondent) PAEROA, To-day. In the Holler Mills Shield competition, Thames Valley defeated Auckland by 9 points to 5. Thames Valley thus win the shield for the third season. The game was a good exhibition of Rugby, being fast, clean and clever. Within seven minutes of the commencement Auckland registered its first and only score in the game, Campbell scoring a try which was converted by Pran.k. For Thames Valley, J. Tilsley, Berryman and Pilkington scored.
Auckland had the heavier forwards, who made few mistakes, but the Thames Valley boys played sterling football and deserved their victory.
