Steady Trading Recorded

Greater Interest in Timbers

A STEADY volume of business spread over a fairly wide range continues to be recorded. Wilsons Cements and N.Z. Refrigerating scrip are active on a very firm market.

slightly at the mid-day call, buyers moving up to 30s 9d with sellers asking 31s. New Zealand’s are very firm. Other banks are quietly steady at late high levels. The insurance group is very firm, although no great activity is noted in the section. In the loan and agency group Goldsbrough Morts show a further slight improvement, sales being recorded at 51s 4d. Increased interest is being taken in timbers. Buyers of Bartholomews improved to 16s at the early call but dropped back at 6d at mid-day. Kauris eased slightly at mid-day. The market for Leyland O’Brien improved to see Commercial Banks strengthened buyers offering 3s. Woollens are very firm.

Increased interest is taken in the mining group and quotations for scrip in one or two of the more or less neglected companies were listed this morning. Business yesterday afternoon:—On ’Change.
