TO PREVENT WAR
ROTARY’S SIXTH OBJECT Speaking on “Rotary’s sixth object” at the luncheon of the Auckland Club yesterday, a past-president, Mr. Charles Rhodes, said that the movement could do a great service in helping a better understanding between the nations. Every Rotarian had a job to do towards the big object and that was to learn to cultivate the friendship, sympathy and goodwill of his own fellows. Through 44 nations the idea had spread and helped to prevent the colossal waste of war. Rotary might be made a big weapon against war. Guests at the Rotary Club’s luncheon to-day included Messrs. J. B. Shacklock. J. Hogg (Dunedin), D. G. Donald (London), T. H. Doane (San Francisco), W. Hamilton Irvine (Gisborne). E. G. Gifford (Hastings). H. J- Adam (London). J. A. Stallworthy (Dunedin). R.
