“BY CHASING IT”
HOW SYDNEY GETS ITS BUSINESS MR. C. COURT’S IMPRESSIONS “How do you find business?” is the slogan among businessmen in Sydney at present. The inevitable answer is: “By chasing it.” After a three months’ holiday in Sydney, Mr. Charles Court, director of George Court and Sons, ' Ltd., is more than ever convinced that Auckland is a very good place in which to live. He says that business is not good in Sydney at present, but when he left there was every sign of a brighter outlook. The slogan given above is to be heard on all sides, said Mjf. Court. Luring his stay in New South Wales Mr. Court visited the Blue Mountains and Port Hacking, where he went flying with some friends. Sydney, he says, has a very fine Aero Club, but only a few of .the members own machines —the others are supplied by the Government. Sydney is still “building mad,” commented Mr. Court. “It is two years since I was there,” he said, “and I noticed a big difference. The harbour bridge is going ahead rapidly. It will be a wonderful thing. The underground is also making good progress.” Talking of the buildings in Sydney, Mr. Court said that the new Lavid Jones shop was a splendid one. He thought that as far as window-dress-ing was concerned, Auckland compared very favourably with what he saw in Australia.
