ENGINEERS’ SOCIETY
MEMBERSHIP NOW 100 NEW OFFICERS ELECTED There are now 67 city and 33 country members of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. At the annual meeting last evening, officers elected were: Chairman, Mr. W. A. Gray; executive, Messrs. F. E. du Guerrier, L. B. Campbell and D. Holderness, city members, and Messrs. F. C. Bongard, J. F. McArthur and S. B. Sims, country members; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. T. Murray. A paper was read by Mr. F. E. Powell on drainage work in the Tamaki district. This was illustrated by lantern slides. Seven technical papers had been read by members during the year and visits had been paid to the Arapuni hydro-electric works, the Huia dam and other works of engineering interest in the district. The finances were in a satisfactory condition.
It was decided to hold the next quarterly meeting at Rotorua in October.
