EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY
MR. J. GRAHAM, OF DEVQNPORT ' Mr. J. Graham, of “Elvaston,” Tudor Street, Devonport, celebrated his 80th birthday on Thursday, when many relatives, frienos and old Auckland identities were present to offer congratulations. Born in Auckland in 1848, Air. Graham left this city at an early age and was- educated at Exeter High School, England. He returned to New Zealand and while serving with Messrs. Jackson and Russell completed his law degrees. Later he joined the Commercial Union Insurance Company, being manager for a number of years. Returning to the practice of law. Air. Graham is still actively engaged and attends his office every day. For the last 24 years he has lived at Devonport, where he is well-known in yachting circles. Those present at the birthday celebration included Air. J. H. Graham. Airs. M. Graham, Airs. W. A. Graham, Mrs. B. Hume, Air. and Airs. K. M. I Graham, Mrs. Haugh, Airs. Atkin, Mrs. Lushington, Airs. Baton. Airs. H. Wynyard, Airs. Alountain, Air. and Airs. It. C. Renner, Airs. Foster, Airs. L. AlcKenzie, Air. and Airs. A. AI. Howden, Aliss M. Graham, Aliss B. Graham, Aliss K. Graham. Miss B. O’Neill. Air. A. O’Neill, Air. J. O’Neill. Air. J. Beale, Alr. G. Beale, Aliss W. Wall, Air. P. C. Graham. Air. J. Ballantyne Graham, Air. G. Graham. During the afternoon Air. J. Beale, a very old friend, proposed the toast to Air. Graham. A musical programme was given, including elocutionary and violin items by Air. Graham, songs by Aliss Wall, and a musical trio by Aliss N. Graham, Aliss B. Graham and Air. G. Beale.
