New Cruiser will Call Only at Wellington ARRIVAL ON OCTOBER 12 According to private advice received from Melbourne yesterday, H.M.A.S. Australia, the new flagship of the Australian Navy, will arrive at Wellington on October 12, leaving the following day for Brisbane. Her itinerary does not include Auckland or other New Zealand ports. After being inspected by the King at Portsmouth last week, the new cruiser, which flies the flag of RearAdmiral G. F. Hyde, R.A.X., sailed on Friday for Montreal, on the first stage of her voyage home. From Montreal the Australia goes to Quebec and Halifax. Following her Canadian visits the ship will make courtesy calls at New York, Boston and Chesapeake Bay, on her way to Colon. After passing through the Panama Canal the Australia will touch at Tahiti, on her way to Wellington. The Canberra, the second 10,000-ton cruiser for the Australian Navy, commissioned at Portsmouth on July 7. was also inspected by the King. She will sail for Australia later in the y e ax.
