£20,000 LOAN
COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL FOR UNEMPLOYED
£B,OOO FROM WAIATARUA FUNDS
The Finance Committee recommended the City Council last evening to adopt the Western Springs arena and Waiatarua Park round-the-lake road as unemployed relief works. A sum of £B,OOO, wliicli has accumulated in the Waiatarua Park trust fund, is available for the Lake Road, and on this the committee sugggested that there should be a Government subsidy. The committee also recommended that authority be sought to raise a loan of £20,000 under last year’s Act aflowing unemployment relief loans without polls. On Western Springs £6,070 has been spent and on July 23 £923 still remained to bo spent. The area still requires an expenditure of £13,465, apart from any buildings.
