MARRIED AT FOURTEEN
YOUNG WIFE SEEKS DIVORCE (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. Married at the age o£ 14 Linda Slakich (Mr. Tompkins) sought a divorce in the Hamilton Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Blair to-day from Ivan Slakich, a labourer, on the grounds of desertion and failure to maintain. Petitioner said she was married at tho age of 14. There was one child of the marriage. In March, 1924, proceedings were taken against her husband for separation, maintenance and guardianship and orders were granted. i4he had not lived with her husband subsequent to two months after their marriage. and, except for a few months, he hud failed to maintain her. Alfred Welsh, farmer, Whatawliata, father of petitioner, said petitioner and respondent had not lived together since March, 1924. The case was adjourned to enable formal evidence of the separation order to be produced.
