CITY AND SUBURBS DRENCHED SNOW ON THE HIGHLANDS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Wednesday. The city and suburbs were to-day drenched by a torrential downpour of rain which lasted all day. The streets were transformed into rushing streams. A cold southerly wind prevailed. Early in the afternoon walking in the streets was almost impossible. At one time the wind was very strong. Its force was such that it capsized a motor-car. More than two inches of rain fell between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Snow has fallen in many parts of the highlands. Flood warnings have been issued to residents of the north coast districts.
