COMMUNITY SINGING
BIG CROWD AT STRAND “Will everybody turn to the person on his right and say how-do-you-do. Then everyone will know everyone else,” sair Mr. H. E. Gillespie, who led the community singing at the Strand Theatre yesterday. Mr. Gillespie seemed to have some , difficulty in dividing the audience into two parts for the singing. He suggested that the “gentlemen” should sing against the “ladies,” but as that was not very successful he decided that all those who got up before eight o’clock this morning should sing against all those who didn’t. With this arrangefiient “Com© to the Fair” was a great success. Miss Rosina Chelldburg sang a solo number which was applauded, so that she gave an encore. Mr. M. J. Bennett was in the chair and Mrs. Osborne accompanied tlie singing on the piano.
