“MENACE TO PROFESSION”
AUCKLAND SOLICITOR STRUCK OFF ROLL (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Court of Appeal to-day ordered that Archibald Lyon Denniston, an Auckland barrister and solicitor, should be struck off the rolls.
On the Bench were Air. Justice Reed, Air. Justice Ostler, Air. Justice Blair and Air. Justice Smith. Air. A. R. Meek, with him Air. A. Free, appeared on behalf of the New Zealand Law Society. Denniston was not represented by counsel and did not appear. Air. Meek said the present occasion was the third on which Denniston had been before the court for discipline. Denniston now came before the court on four further complaints. “It is only fair,” said Air. Aleek, “to say that I have been informed that Denniston has been making attempts to settle with his creditors, and I believe he has succeeded in doing so.
“I think I am justified in saying he has become a menace to the profession, and the public. Orders of suspension have not been effective.” The court allowed £ls 15s costs to the Auckland District Law Society.
