ANNUAL MEETINGS OF CLUBS SATISFACTORY ANNUAL REPORTS • Bowling clubs are now holding their ; annual meetings, and in most instances a very satisfactory position is being revealed. Reports of several meetings were published in yesterday’s issue. Papatoetoe Club Progress of the year was reported as satisfactory, and the finances were announced as sound at the annual meeting of the Papatoetoe Club, presided over by Mr. T. Smytheman. Alembers were congratulated on their win in the pennant competition and their gaining second place in the executive fours contest. It was decided to enter for the Auckland Centre’s pennant competition next season. Epsom Club A very successful meeting of the Epsom Bowling and Croquet Club was held on Wednesday evening in the club’s pavilion. Air. T. R. George occupied the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The year’s workings were explained, and the credit balance, after the heavy entertainment the club had undertaken, showed its finances to be in a satisfactory state. Referring to the proposal to transfer the green to Nicholson Park, the Afayor, Arr. Potter, who was present, explained the council’s idea of making the park a representative sport and recreation ground for the district. Already a children’s playground and tennis, croquet and football areas have been provided, and it is intended to prepare a green site. The meeting was favourably impressed by the scheme and a report is to be obtained as to the practicability of removing shortly. The present site is too valuable for recreation, and if sold, would place the club in a good position. Tf the transfer is made three full greens would then be available.
