REDUCING THE STOCK

WELL-BRED YOUNGSTERS No one has played a more prominent part in the advancement of the light-harness sport in the North Island than Tom Roe, the popular owner-trainer, whose sign has hung out for many seasons through all weathers at Mountain Road, Mangere. T. Roe has bred, owned and raced some of the finest horses in the Dominion during his long turf career, and his name in connection with Gold Bell progeny lias long been a household one in trotting circles. Gold Bell. Gold Boy, Gold Girl and Steel Bell are names that will long remain green, and the latter, who, besides winning numerous good races secured two Auckland Cups, will be remembered throughout many generations. As a trotting sire Gold Bell has a record that will stand the test of time, and as a prolific foal-getter he has no peers, and his progeny have proved their worth and been a great advertisement for the sire. During the latter years of his association with the game Tom Roe has been breeding on extensive lines and included among his stock are youngsters by such promising sires as Worthy Bond, The Triumph, Nelson Derby and Aerial Bingen, and there is a good lot of Gold Bell’s progeny running on the Mountain Road property. The stock has accumulated to such an extent that the owner has decided to hold a clearing sale and on Mondtv the whole lot will be put up to auction at Mr. Roe’s place. In addition to the young stock already mentioned, the well-known pacer Goldman and the trotter Peterson will come under the hammer and also the trotting mares Sweet Memory and Fairbairn, both of which should bo good breeding propositions. And Gold Bell, the wonder of the Roe establishment for many years, is included in the list. With so many interested in the trotting business visiting Auckland there should be a good assembly of buyers on the premises on Monday at 1 o’clock.
