SOUTH AUCKLAND CENTRE MAKES STEADY PROGRESS

(From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Sunday. At the annual meeting of the South Auckland Football Association held last evening. Mr! G. McKinnon presiding. The chairman of the committee, Mr. F. J. Carr, reported that the position of the association was improving steadily. The following trophies were won during the year: South Auckland Championship Shield, Waihou; Howdcn Cup, Frankton Railways; Ansell Cup, Frankton Railways; Junior Championship Shield, Pukemiro; A.B.C. Cup. Hamilton Technical High School. Progress had been made with regard to school football. J. Bate, of Huntly. was congratulated on winning his international cap as a member of the team which played the Australian boys’ team. The North

Island schoolboys’ championship would be played at Huntly this year. The 1928 season would commence on April 2S. The committee placed on record its appreciation of the sterling services rendered by the honorary secretary and ; treasurer, Mr. G. Cox. The balance sheet disclosed a profit of £32 14s 6d on the year’s working, while the surplus of assets over liabilities was £S9 IDs Gd. The following officers were elected: Patron, Dr. H. Douglas; president, Mr. .John McKinnon; secretary, Mr. G. Cox. * MORRiNSVILLE SWIMMING CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES (From Our Own Correspondent) MORRINSVILLE, To-day. The close of a successful season was brought about on Saturday when the Morrinsville Swimming Club held a ; gathering at which the cups and other trophies won during the season were presented, the president, Mr. B. Chapman, making the presentations. The club members won one senior and five junior South Auckland championships. Following are the prizewinners: 50yds women’s, Lena Price; 100yds women’s, Noell Coombe; women’s dive, Gladys; Dike; 100yds boys', B. Coombe; 220yds boys’, Ivan Barker; Merriken Cup, Boyer C'uombe; Sportsman Cup, Noell Coombe: Dickey Cup, W. Cameron; Seville Cup, D. Dike. Gummer Cup, V. Matlett; School llelav Cup. R.
