STOLE HIS TYRES
SERVICE DRIVER’S LAPSE POVERTY PLEA TO COURT Wishing to refit his service car with tyres, Edgar Anderson, aged 23, stole a set from another man’s ear. He was charged at the Police Court with stealing three rijns and tyres, valued at £2O. With Frank G.*eeu, aged 22, he was further charged with stealing one rim and tyre* valued at £4. Detective Allen said he had found the rims and tyres hidden under Anderson’s house. Anderson, in evidence, admitted going to a house and stealing the tyres from a car which he had jacked up for the purpose. He denied ihat Green had been actively with either theft.
Mr. Sellars, who appeared for Anderson. said that accused had been “up against it” for 12 months, and having acquired a car cheaply, he began to run a service: but when his tyres wore out he had no mea.is of obtaining new' ones. The charge against Green was dismissed, but Anderson will appear again tomorrow for sentence.
