MR. E. BOLD’S SERVICE PURCHASE OFFICER RETIRING After acting as “buffer” between deprived landowners and the public purse for more than 22 years, Mr. E. Bold, senior land - purchase officer for the Public Works Department, will retire on June 1. Mr. Bold's activities have embraced settlements for land required for railways, roads, public buildings, scenery preservation, afforestation, irrigation, hydro-electric schernes, harbour and other marine works; defence, rifle range and airdrome sites; land drainage and river protection works; as well as lands for settlement. Of all the differences of opinion which have arisen in the course of Mr. Bold’s experience, there have been less
