PETTY THIEF
GIRL SENT TO HOME TWO YEARS’ REFORMATIVE A girl of 17. whose name was errdered to be suppressed, to-day pleaded guilty ‘before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to charges of theft at Kawau on January 10. The thefts were of a dress and a pair of shoes, valued at £2 ss, and a petticoat, valued at ss. Mr. Denniston, for the accused, said the less said about the matter the better. He would admit the thefts. Major Gordon saic'l she had known the girl since she was 12 years of age, and she was always committing petty thefts. There was only one thing to do with her, and that was to send her to a home. The magistrate admitted the accused to a term of reformative detention for a period of two years.
