POLISH BISHOP ON TRIAL FOR HIS LIFE

The Riga correspondent of the London “Times” states that a Soviet military tribunal at Kieff is trying the Catholic Bishop Skalsky, who Is of Polish nationality, on a charge of counter-revolution espionage, involving the death penalty. When other ecclesiastics accompanied thfe departing Polish troops in 1920, Bishop Skalsky remained at Kieff and hid In a belfry for five weeks, after which he resumed his dutieß. The charges include maintaining relations with Poland, giving a review of the Catholics’ position in Ukraine to Poland, and t agitation against the Soviet.
