SUPERINTENDENT ARRIVES “Our syllabus is adapted to the needs of the people of Samoa, vwith a strong agricultural basis,” said Mr. D. A. J. Rutherford, superintendent of schools in Samoa, who arrived yesterday by the Tofua. The children were very keen to learn, he said, and were .remarkably alert in some things. / “We keep r to the natives' customs and avoid, as far as possible, any attempt to Europeanise the children. Particular attention is paid to health and sports, and the children keep to their native clothing.” Mr. Rutherford said that success Is attending the efforts of the teachers in Samoa.
