CORNWELL CUP CONTEST

ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND A meeting of the Cornwell Cup Contest Committee held at the clubhouse, Bayswater, was well attended. The chairman. Mr. O. Moller, reported the subscription lists were being returned, and emphasised the necessity of all lists being in by to-morrow. Advice was received from Otago stating that their rep. crew would leave on January 9 with Commodore Bewley and Mr. Riddle. The arrangements lor the contestants are well in hand. Working bees are lining the supper room and installing cooking stoves and beds. A slipway has also been erected adjacent to the clubhouse for the quicker handling of the boats. A committee was appointed to haul ten 12ft. 6in. one-design boats out to dry, refit and paint, and this work is already well advanced. Arrangements for the contest conference are in hand, and nominations for officers are being submitted for approval. The ladies’ committee has its deportment in hand; and an orchestra has been engaged for free dancing in the social hall on the afternoon of January 14; and swimming sports in baths will interest the club's patrons, who will be accommodated on the balconies holding 400 people. The club invites all yachtsmen to the clubhouse on Saturday, January 14, also donors and residents. Donations locally are coming in, and the contest promises to be the most successful yet held.
