COASTERS OUTCLASSED
COMMENT ON THE GAME (Special to THE SUN.) * GREYMOUTH. Wednesday. Outclassed in all departments, the combined West Coast and Buller team went under to the touring Auckland League side to-day, being defeated by 44 points to 15. The game was played in beautiful weather on a dry ground before about 1,000 spectators. The Coasters, for the first ten minutes, held their own, but from then on had a hopeless task to compete against the fast and nippy play of the visitors. A feature of the game was the fine passing bouts among the Aucklanders, both forwards and backs participatDufty gave a fine exhibition at fullback, and notched one try, but was not so successful with his attempts at goal-kicking. The reverse passes of Wetherill and Prentice were attractive. Little and Wilson, on the wings, showed rare turns of speed, and McIntyre at half had little difficulty in starting the backs moving. Among the forwards, Hunt, Somers and O’Brien were conspicuous. Of the Coasters, C. McElwe, Davies and Dodds were the best backs, while in the forwards Goodall was outstanding, receiving good support from Griffiths, Hanson and Hands.
