TE AWAMUTU SPORTS CLUBS
NEED FOR SHELTER The need of suitable buildings at Albert Park, Te Awamutu, was considered at a representative meeting of sports bodies and others interested held on Monday evening. The Mayor, Mr. L. G. Armstrong, presided and indicated that the Domain Board had spent £B2 2s 7d at Albei't Park on permanent improvements. The revenue for the year was £39 18s 9d. Mr. Reese said, with a view of providing funds for the purpose, it was a one-day carnival be
held. He estimated the cost of a building 75ft. by 30ft. to be about £3OO. The building would be an asset to the tow r n and district. The only way to provide the neecssary funds was by co-operation of all bodies interested. After some discussion the motion to hold a carnival to raise £SOO was then put and carried unanimously. Mr. F. Quin was appointed chairman of the committee of management and the following were elected an executive: Messrs. J. Oliphant, J. G, Wynyard, A. .A, Chittenden, C. F. Battson, G. B. Melrose, C. A. Finch, S. Smith, F. Bowden, C. A, Reilly and A. A. Reese, with power to add.
