PUKEKOHE TENNIS
CLUB’S SUCCESSFUL YEAR The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Lawn Tennis Club was held on Monday evening, Mr. H. H. Battle presiding. The report showed that the membership stood at 71, and that the overdraft. had been reduced by £52 30s 9d. There was an excess of assets over liabilities of £176 14s lOd. The past season was the first year of affiliation with the Franklin Association and the A and B teams had won the Park Horne shield and the Moore-Schlaepfer trophy, respectively. The standard of play had vastly improved during the season. Officers elected were:—Patron, Mr. H. H. Pattle; president, Mr. J. W. Johns; yice- president, Mr. M. S. Campbell; secretary, Mr. W. E. Richards; treasurer, Mr. W. M. S. Hood; club captain, Mr. H. H. Pattle; vice-captain, Mr. M. S. Campbell; auditor, Mr. E. G. Foster; referee, Mr. A. B. Matthews; executive : Messrs. F. J. Brown, A. B. Matthews, Kissling and Dr. R. J. Forman-Bull; ladies’ committee, Mesdames W. Bayly, A. R. Hatt, L. J. Bayly, J. McWhirter, Misses A. Johns, M. Lysnar, and M. Pleyctell; delegates to Franklin Association, Major J. A. Sommerville, Messrs. W. E. Richards and L. J. Bayly. The opening day was fixed for October 8. It was decided to hold an Easter tournament and to approach the association regarding the advisability of it presenting some trophy for a championship event.
