Upton left by train for Wellington yesterday evening. The Hon. T. S. Weston and Sir E. Mitchelson, M.L.C.'s. have been granted leave of absence toy the Legislative Council on account of sickness. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. Baildon, was able to attend at the Town Hall yesterday for the first time since his recent illness. The general manager of the Bank of Sew Zealand. Mr. G. W. Mclntosh, is on a visit to Auckland. Mr. Rodney Coates, brother of the Prime Minister, underwent an operation at a private hospital yesterday morning. It will be learned with satisfaction that Mr. Coates is progressing favourably. Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., Mr. H. G. R. Mason. M.P., and Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P.. and Mr. R. W.
