PROTEA FLOWER The above Protea flower was grown in one of our Auckland gardens. It is a native of Africa. The name comes from Proteus, a sea-god who could transform himself into any shape. The flower measures from six to nine inches across the outside row of petals, which are rose pink and the centre silver.
