CYLINDER EXPLODES
INJURIES TO EAR COMPENSATION CLAIMED Medical witnesses not being available, an action for compensation for injuries claimed to be due to the explosion of an acetylene gas cylinder was adjourned in the Arbitration Court yesterday until the next Auckland sitting of the court. Thomas Roberts, of Auckland, was the claimant, and the Auckland Gas Company the defendant.
While employed by the company in December last, Roberts had been injured by concussion from the exploded cylinder, which eventually resulted in his total incapacitation. The court granted an adjournment, the company offering to pay £2 11s a week to the claimant until the case had been heard, and back money from January 3.
