LATE COMMERCIAL

BUTTER AUCTION SALES PROPOSED INTRODUCTION (Special to THE SUN.) PALMERSTON N., To-day. “That the Dairy Produce Control Board be asked to institute weekly auction sales in New Zealand of dairy produce,” was a remit moved on behalf of the executive at the annual conference of the Wellington provincial branches of the Dominion Dairy Farmers’ Union held in Palmerston North on Thursday. “I think we should defer* this for 12 months,” stated Mr. Small, the speaker maintaining that butter could not be sold in the same way as wool. “There is no harm in the remit going forward to the Control Board,” said Mr. Short. “That body is more capable of dealing with it than we are and, if there is anything in it, they will act in the way suggested.”

It was, however, decided to hold the proposal over for twelve months.
