PRISONERS’ AID SOCIETY

TO EXTEND ACTIVITIES It is hoped to extend the work of the Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society by enlisting more helpers in the country towns, it was said at the quarterly meeting yesterday. Archbishop Averill presided. The society carries on a useful, though necessarily unobtrusive work, among the prisoners, both before and after discharge, and when it is remembered that there are always nearly 400 men and women in the Mount Eden prison, and the discharges number from 1.500 to 2.000, it will be seen that there is a wide field to cover.
