By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Tuesday. jyjORE than 210 persons lost their lives and many hundreds were Injured throughout the United States during the three-day celebration of Independence Day, ending yesterday. The majority of the fatalities and casualties arose from traffic accidents.
due to the crowding of the roads by people on holiday Outings driving to tbe beaclies, where thousands sought relief from the heat, and from the sound of fire-works exploding. The greatest toll of lives was taken in the metropolitan area of New York, where 38 are dead, and another 700 are being treated for burns. —A. and N.Z.
