WHAT CONSTITUTES A WIRE MATTRESS?
A frame with a section of wire mesl similar to the under-frame of a hos pital cot was “Exhibit A” in the Ar bitration Court this morning. An application of the union con tended that this was a wire mattres: and should be governed by the claus< of the furniture trades award covering
“wire mattress making in all bran ches.’ The question arose whethe: boys on the job meshing up the link: when made were entitled to mattres: makers’ wages.
For the manufacturers it was contended that the links could not b< called a mattress. They were part o: a bed-frame.
The court decided to consider its decision.
