NEW LYNN BOWLERS FIRST ANNUAL MEETING
GOOD PROGRESS MADE The first annual meeting of the New Lynn Bowling Club was held on Thursday, Mr. P. Rankin presiding. The report showed that the position of the club was a very satisfactory one, in view of the fact of the many obstalces to be overcome by a newly-formed club. The club was starting with over 50 members and the ambition of the club was to raise the membership to 60 for the first season. A suitable site had been purchased and the green was nearly finished, but the club had been handicapped with bad weather, which prevented the grass being sown, but it is hoped with favourable conditions to have the green ready for play about Christmas time. The club decided to become affiliated with the Auckland Centre. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. W. P. Rankin; vicepresidents, Messrs. M. Laing, W. Witham, G. Laurie; secretary, Mr. R. Wells; treasurer, Mr. W. Platt; committee, Messrs. J. Webster, N. Matheson, J. A. Parry, R. A. Jeffrey, E. R. Edney and A. Cox; match committee, Messrs. J. Webster, M. Young, R. Wells; ground committee, H. J. Cutler, N. Matheson, W. Witharm: delegate to centre, W. P. Rankin, R. Wells. It was decided to organise a concert and later a fair to raise funds.
