MAIL DELIVERIES RE-ARRANGED
BETTER SERVICE DESIGNED Delivery of mails to an area between Onehunga and Ellerslie and between Onehunga and Auckland will be expedited by a rearrangement of deliveries. From July 18 the streets mentioned below will be transferred from the Ellerslie delivery to the Onehunga delivery:— Amaru Road, Campbell Road to Kowhai Road, Kowhai Road, Ngamata Road, Moata Road, Ngapuhi Street to Ilorotutu Road, Oranga Avenue, Pahaia Road, Rarawa Road, Rawhiti Road, Tawa Road, Tawhiri Road, Waitangi Road, Felix Street. These streets are in a “no man’s land” between Auckland, Ellerslie and Onehunga, and unless mail was addressed to Ellerslie it often missed a mail and a delivery by postmen before reaching its destination. From the same date the following streets in the area between Greenwood’s Corner and Mount Albert Road, the delivery to which is now made from Onehunga, will be incorporated in the Auckland postmen’s delivery:— Acorn Street, Beck Avenue, Beckenham Avenue, Crown Street, Epworth Avenue, Fernleigh Avenue, Garland Avenue, Gladwin Road, Greenfield Road, Haydn Avenue, Hollywood Avenue, Kiwi Road, Lewin Road, Lynton Avenue, Manukau Road from Greenwood’s Corner to Campbell and Mount Albert Roads, Mount Albert Road from Three Kings Road, Ngaroma Road, Oak Street, Pah Avenue, Pah Road, Peet Avenue, Pukenui Road, Rewi Road, Rowan Road, Rose Street, Torrance Street, Tupirere Road. In the case of these streets 200 or 300 letters daily instead of being addressed to Onehunga have been addressed to Auckland. The Mount Roskill Road Board has been a particularly heavy sufferer. The rearrangement should surmount the difficulty and give better satisfaction to people in these localities.
