DUKE IN DANGER

SYDNEY INCIDENT TOWER FALLS WHERE CAR WAS CROWD ESCAPES NARROWLY By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Rcvd. 12.40 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. When the Duke of York was in Sydney attending the Returned Soldiers’ luncheon in the Wentworth Hotel, opposite which Doctor Lang’s old Scots Church was being dismantled, the workmen had underdermined a tower in preparation for dropping it. and were waiting till the crowd should get away. A few minutes after the Duke left and the crowd dispersed, the tower suddenly and unexpectedly settled down and a quantity of debris crashed through the fence where numbers of people had been standing. Some of the debris lodged close to where the Duke’s car had been parked.—A. and N.Z.
