IN THE BUILDING WORLD Plans are in hand for the erection of a two-storey building at the top of Alexandra Street for the Masonic Lodge Ara, No. 348, 1.C., the mother lodge of Freemasonry in Auckland. The new structure will consist of a lodge room on the first floor and a refectory on the ground level. The cost of the hall and its equipment will run into £B,OOO. A start has already been made on the building which will take six months to complete. As indicating the continued progress of Auckland in the building world, figures for the twelve months ended March 31 show that permits to the value of £1,567,152 were issued by the Auckland City Council, being only £BO6 less than the previous year’s figures.
