MOTORIST IN COURT OTHER OFFENDERS TOO “He gave his name as ‘Jack Ritchie’ and then drove away,’ said SeniorSergeant Edwards in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when Joseph Ratcliffe was charged with having no lights. “You are lucky you are not charged with another offence.” * said Mr. McKean, as -he fined the defendant 10s. In addition to the same penalty, Emerson Rendell was fined another 10s for not producing his driving license, and Douglas R. Newman, the same for having his number plate obscured, and ordered to pay 13s costs for not having a properly assigned number. Ten shilling fines were the order of the day apparently, for the same penalty was imposed on Charles Herbert Geard, for having an obscured number plate, and on Cyril James Taylor for leaving his car unattended. Failing to report a change of ownership brought a 5s fine to Bernard M. Morley. Treading too heavily on his accelerator cost Thomas Henry Henshall £2 19 s. Harold Joseph Heighton was fined £2 with £2 14s costs for dangerous driving. Gordon Preston, in reply to the same charge, said he skidded. Mr. McKean gave him the benefit of the doubt, convicted him, and ordered him to pay £1 16s costs.
