OTAHUHU BOROUGH
NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS OFFICIAL OPENING TO-NIGHT The Otahuhu Borough Council’s new chambers and fire brigade station will be officially opened to-night by Sir Frederic Lang, M.L.C. The building, which is of handsome appearance, was designed by Mr. Daniel B. Patterson, and cost approximately £4,200. The new structure stands on the same site as the old one, on which a dwelling 60 years old served as municipal offices for the past 12 years. The building is of brick and was erected by Mr. C. W. Ravenhall. On either side of the main entrance are two massive pillars, inscribed “Otahuhu Municipal Chambers, 1927.” __ The double doors open to a tiled vestibule, which leads to the main hall. On the right is the town clerk’s office and the general office, and on the left is the building inspector’s office, committeeroom, mayoral office and luncheon room. The council chambers proper run the full width of the building. Electric heating has been installed and the furnishings are in keeping with the rest of the appointments. The new fire station is on the left of the council chambers and is equipped with a modern fire engine and the latest appliances.
