Departmental Work During Month. REPORTS TO COUNCIL. _____ Departmental reports' on the month's work were submitted to tho Stratford Borough Council meet.n.-;-as follow: * m * ' Cow Condemned. J The abbatoirs manager, Mr R. Jenkin, reported that 135 cows were slaughtered, 42 heifers, 257 sheep and SI pigs. Fees totalled £99 4s 3d.. One cow was condemned for tuberculosis. * « * Manure for Farm. The farm committee reported that ten tons of manure had been sent to the farm for top dressing. * =» # Work on Streets. The Borough foreman, Mr R. Richards, reported that Flint Road, Brecon Road North, Celia Street, Lear Street, Pembroke Road East and Hamlet Street South had received at:ontlon. A 40ft. trench had been dug for rubbish burial. The alterations of the cattle pens at the abbatoirs were well in hand. Footpath work at the cemetery would be finished in about three days. * # * Users of Electricity. The electrical inspector, Mr A. E. Pollock, reported that the total number of consumers was 1102, comprising 24S commercial users and 854 domestic users 1 . Units purchased for the month were 264,700, compared with 231,300 for the corresponding mouth last year, an increase of 33,400 units. Mr Pollock quoted the follow;ng figures as of interest in relation to last year's increase in *load: — Lighting points, 356 points, equalling 23.30 k.w.; heating, 131 points (131 k.w.); ranges installed 10, (58 k.w.); hot water installed 14 (13.65 k.w.); motors installed, 29 (23.312 k.w.); street lighting (1 k.w.); total, 250.322 k.w. * * * Five Burials. The marking of football fields and general maintenance work was reported by Mr B. P. Blanchard, the Domain caretaker. The cemetery caretaker, Mr A. Bone, reported five burials. * * * Use of Town Hall. Mr H. Dixon, Town Hall caretaker, reported that tho building had been booked on six occasions, as well as for badminton.
