IN SNOW VALLEY.

Venue Of Taranaki Ski Championships. THIS YEAR'S EVENT. That the Taranaki Ski Championships be held on the home grounds of the Mount Egmont and Taranaki Cluba, subject to weather conditions being suitable, was decided at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Provincial Ski Committee at Stratford last night. Mr A. W. White expressed the opinion that as the championships had been such a success last year on the Stratford ground and they had every reason to be satisfied with the conditions, the meeting should agam be held on that ground. He moved in that direction. In moving as an amendment that if possible the championships be held on the home grounds of the three clubs 1 in-turn, Mr F. Wright said that he considered it about time that the north had a turn. He considered the Taranaki Alpine Club's grounds equally as good as-those on the Strafford side. The chairman, Mr R. Syme, in expressing support of the amendment, said that while the meeting at Stratford kad been a success, the previous season's meeting at Fantkam'si Peak had also been very successful. If the policy suggested by the Stratford delegate had been pursued then the championships would -c-\ <n- have been held on the Stratford around. Previously he considered the North side suitable and safe in regard to run-outs, but the holding of the championsliipci there would be subject to the Ski Committee judging the ground suitable. There was no doubt, he concluded, that local knowledge counted for a lot in skiing and skiers on their own ground had a. deemed advantage. After some further discussion the amendment was carried. I! was decided that the champion ships be keld this year en the week end,, September 12 and 12. on the Taranaki Alpine (Hubs' grounds at Snow Valley, provided conditions were suitable. Entry fees and conditions were adopted on the same scale as-' last year. On a further motion it was decided that the committee arrange a cross, country race and a jump in addition to the championships.
