PLAZA THEATRE JANET GAYNOR AND LIONEL BARRYMORE IN “CAROLINA.” Janet Gaynor, Lionel Barrymore, Henrietta Grosman and Robert Young 1 head the cast of Fox Films’ latest release, “Carolina,” which will open the Plaza Theatre to-day. The outstanding performances of these stars, together with the romance, the comedy and the Grama of the film, stamp “Carolina” as a distinct hit. Set against a beautiful background 0 f tobacco plantations and hanging magnolia trees, the' film tolls' the story of a poor Northern girl who goes South to raise tobacco on a small piece of land owned by a decadent but still dignified Southern family, The young son of the family falls in love with the girl, notwithstanding the fact that his mother objects. Ho becomes impressed with what the girl tells him and learns from her the ways and means by which to rebuild the plantation. There follows a scries or dramatic sequences in which the young girl tries to win the family over to her side, but to no avail.

“Registered Nurse,” which will bo shown at the King’s Theatre .tonight, L said to b& a romantic drama of hospital life with an entirely new twist, it deals with the love life of the nurses and doctors in a groat metropolitan hospital rather than with the more sombre or technical side of such an institution. Only two patients come prominently into the picture and these supply the laughable incidents in a story that learns more to thrilling melodrama than to comedy, Bebe Daniels enacts the role of a beautiful woman who turns to nursing after her marital life has proved a failure.
