The Little Theatre Players' reading circle met at the residence of Miss Margaret Phillips on Wednesday night.

Mrs Vincent was At, Home on Saturday afternoon last; those present were Mrs and Miss Porrill, Mrs Thorpe Mrs McDonald, Mrs Thomson, Mrs McLean the Misses A. and C. Uniacke.

Mrs Thomas was At Home on Tuesday afternoon; those present were Mrs Wynyard, Mrs C. Hart. Mrs W. Hale, Mrs Davis, Mrs Gaw, Mrs R. Carryer, Mrs Moss, Mrs Baden Bellringer Mrs Ebbett, Mrs Colin Brown.

Mrs Budge was At Home on Wednesday afternoon; those present were Mrs W. H. H. Young, Mrs Pcgg, Mrs Porritt, Mrs Good Mrs Bcale (Auckland) Miss Beale, Miss Bartlette Mis? Porritt.

A pleasant afternoon was spent a Mrs G. Smith's home, Midhirst, Wednesday. The afternoon was speiV in competitions and musical items. Tn piano items played by Mrs Sue Vickers and Mrs V. A very amusing and successful "Bring and Buy" afternoon was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday under the auspices' of the Anglican Mothers Guild to raise funds for the establishment of an orphanage in the Diocese. There was an excellent attendance and business was brisk. At the opening of the proceedings the Vicar gave a» short talk on the aims of the afternoon's effort. The hall was charmingly decorated by Mrs Erickson and Mrs Irving. The ladies in charge of the tea department which was very daintly served were Mrs Botcher Mrs Coward Mrs Childs, Mrs Hewitt and helpers.' Mrs Dickson and little Miss Scott gave some very enjoyable vocal items. Mrs Dixon (Hamilton) recited The beautifully dressed doll presented by Mrs Erickson who was also responsible for its warbrobe, v:as won by Mrs H. C. Johnson. A raffia basket presented by Mrs Alger was won by Mrs Scott. The proceeds amounted tr more than £5 which will be available for the orphanage.

A euchre party was held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday night to raise funds for the Church of England- those present were Mr and Mrs H C Johnson, Mr and Mrs Edgar Young, Mr and Mrs Cook, Mr and Mrs Bell Mr and Mrs Dudding, Mr and Mrs Adl'am, Mr and Mrs Tubby, Mr and Mrs Reader. Mr and Mrs Waite Mr and Mrs White, Mr and Mrs Kowaliski, Mr and Mrs Davis Mr and Mrs Erickson, Mr and Mrs Whitmill, Mr and Mrs Walker, Mrs Gatton Mrs Elgar Mrs Oliver Mrs Whittington Mrs Coward Mrs Hathaway Mrs Hignett Mrs Casey Mrs Tunbridge Mrs Beale Mrs Gray Mrs Peterson Mrs Aagaard Mrs W.ickstead Mrs Jenkins Mrs Robson Mrs Bonner Mrs Byron Mrs McDonald Mrs Muller Mrs Sotheran Mrs Flynn Mrs Irving Miss Franks Miss Wheeler the Misses Loring (2) Miss Byron Miss Bonner Miss Were (Toko) Misses Bell (2) M«8 Payiie Miss Gray Misses Needhan. A very successful "Fancy Fair' was held at St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon last when good business was done. A few of those present were- Mrs Good, Mr and Mrs W. H. H Young, Mrs Pitt, Mrs Chas. Lowe (Auckland), Mrs Thorpe, Mrs ißera, Mrs O'Neil. Miss Bartlett, Miss A. Uniacke, Mrs Geo. Hall, Mrs Robertson, Mrs J. B. A jolly little dance was held Sn the Parish Hall on Tuesday under the auspices of the Band Committee. The hall was tastefully decorated. Some of the ladies present were: Mrs McCaskill.
