THERE was a recurrence of wholesale violence on the Pennsylvania coal fields, where sixteen, including a deputy sheriff, were shot and more or less seriously wounded. Governor Pinchot, of Pennsylvan'a, intimated that he -s prepared to declare martial law if necessary. Federal conci'iators have been sent to the scene in an attempt to effect a settlement.
