Rome, May 11 An Italian naval petty officer, Ugo Traviglia, who was convicted yesterday of "grave military espionage in the interests of a neighbouring state,'' was shot in the back today. A woman named Camilla Agliardi was sentenced to death, but her execution is being delayed pending an appeal for mercy to the King. The case was tried before a special tribunal in camera. The announcement of the execution was the first intimation to the public.
