PRISON BREAKERS CHARGED

Handcuffed together and closely guarded, the two men who escaped from the Gisborne gaol on April 29, Norman Alfred O'Meara and Wilkin Rainsdon Avery, appeared before Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., and pleaded guilty to several charges of theft and breaking prison. They were sentenced to one month's imprisonment on each charge and the hearing of the charge of gaol-breaking ■was deferred.
