£25 For Relief of Distress HALF OF MAYOR'S HONORARIUM j A grant of £25 from the Mayor's | honorarium was made at last night's meeting of the Stratford Borough Council towards the Mayor's Relief Fund for the relief of distress in ; Stratford. j The Mayor, Mr. J. W. McMillan said I that he had made a statement during i the election that he would give, half j his honorarium, if elected, for the rej lief of distress anions the'unemployed | and others. "I am prepared to take j less honorarium and ask the council to donate the savins to the Relief j Fund." said Mr. McMillan. "The ladies | are doing the greater portion of the j work," he continued, "but at present j they have no fund on which to operi ate. If you aerree to give me an honoi rarium of £SO I want you to donate j £25 to the fund immediately. Under i the circumstances I will move that the ! honorarium be £50." i Cr. A. H. Trotter (seconding): I I think this is a magnificent gesture on j your part and an indication of yout I genuine desire to assist the unemI ployed. j The motion was carried and, on the j motion of Cr. C. W. Soeck, seconded 1 by Cr. R. F. Harkness, it was resolved j that £25 be donated to the Mayor's I Relief Fund. | ,
