FOUR CANDIDATES
For Eltham Council Seat NOMINATIONS CLOSE Nominations closed at noon on Saturday for the vacant seat on the Eltham Borough Council, no fewer than four candidates entering the lists. It is passing strange that, whereas the greatest difficult was experienced in mustering up eight candidates for the biennial election, leaving one short of the requisite number, there is a plethora of candidates for the by-election. Possibly the explanation lies in the fact that at the time of the election the affairs of the School Committee had the whole town by the ears, to the consequent oversight of matters municipal. As all four candidates are wellknown residents, more than usual interest will be taken in the election, which is scheduled for Wednesday week. The candidates and their nominators are as under: Butler, Edwin Clement Leo, nominated by T. C. Stanners, F. R. Pepperell. • Bourke, Michael, nominated by T. H. A. Valintine and H. J. Drabble. Fake, Josiah Henry, nominated by H. G. Carman, W. Ricketts and A. G. Whiting. Lewis, Roger, nominated by J. 11. Morton and J. W. Stubbs.
