DAMAGED BY FIRE

Wellington Shop Ablaze

Press Association —Copyright

Wellington, April 19.—A fire in the .storeroom of Mr. Hart, a fancy goods dealer, in Cuba Street to-night destroyed the greater part of the contents of one room and damaged the contents of the shop below. Fire lighters fought in dense smoke for a time, lack of ventilation preventing the flames from breaking out.

Efforts to stop the fire reaching the next floor above proved successful. On this floor was stored a large quantity of Paramount films. A man was employed cutting the films. A woman cleaner and a child made a hurried exit from the upper storey along the balcony to a cabaret next door.
