Wellington, April 19.—Substantial increases in the value of exports from New Zealand in the last month j quarter and year are recorded in the official trade figures issued to-day. Imports have shown a further slight decline. The figures are:— Month of March. 1933 1932 £ £ Exports 5,396,273 3.682,468 Imports 1,888,809 1,872,039 Three months to March 31. Exports 13,343,982 11,499,601 Imports 5,574,637 5,849,283 Twelve months to March 31. Exports 38,810,161 34.496,211 Imports 22,770,460 23,165^522 The values recorded for exports are the declared f.o.b. values in terms of New Zealand currency while the values recorded for imports are the current domestic values in the countries of export, plus 10 per cent. If the recorded value of imports is converted to the equivalent of New Zealand currency the excess of exports over imports (excluding specie imported or exported) for the financial year 1932-33 Is about £12,450,000, compared with £9,182,000 in the previous year.
