STORMY TRIP

Governor-General on Tour

At Sea April 13.—The Diomede, which is conveying Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe to Samoa, ran into bad weather shortly after leaving Auckland. The conditions on Tuesday night and all day Wednesday were very stormy, with strong head winds and heavy seas, which eventually necessitated a reduction of speed to seven knots. The Diomede frequently shipped seas and was a very wet ship for a time, but she came through the ordeal with credit. The most serious loss was the crash of crates containing eggs, and "all the King's men could not put these eggs together again." The weather slightly improved and the ship is now going at her ordinary cruising speed. All are well on board and it is hoped to reach Nukualofa at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
