DANCE FOR HALL FUNDS The dance in aid of the Hall funds held on Monday last was a great success. There were present visitors from as far as Otakeho, Kaptuii, Stratford, Hawera and Ararata, Auckland and Wellington. The dance went with a swing and was kept up till the small hours. The Ambassadors Band was in its usual good form. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr and Mrs C. Cooks, Otakeho. Extras were played by Miss Silver and Mrs A; A. Piper, Mr. O. Tobeck being master of ceremonies. To show how hard the farmers are feeing hit with the fall in wool prices, the following speaks for itself, as this as the return for one bale of 310 lbs. of wool. The sale price was £3 3s, the commission and costs and railage was £1 6s Id, leaving the net proceeds of £1 16s lid. The shearing cost and carting by lorry 11 miles to station had to be deducted from £1 16s lid, a,p this farmer has a very small equity in his bale ji wool.

Mr and Mrs K, W. Mills returned to Auckland on Tuesday by car after three weeks’ holiday in Taranaki. Mr. A. Gray and Mr. J. W. Burke also accompanied them.
